Cuando el sol se esconda (1983)

Yo mismo estaba en el paro cuando escribí esta canción.

A menudo le verás solitario,
caminando por tu calle, lentamente;
como si no hubiera nada importante que hacer;
discutiendo consigo mismo,
mientras que en el cielo empieza a anochecer.
Algún día, aún no ha amanecido
y ya puedes verle, ante una oficina,
haciendo cola para sellar un papel
que no da de comer;
y el resto del día pasará
deseando solamente que anochezca de una vez.
Pues cuando el sol se esconda
ella vendrá y le traerá su sonrisa;
como cada día
ella vendrá de trabajar
para romper su soledad.
A menudo se encierra en su cuarto,
revolviendo viejos libros de contabilidad;
envía muchas cartas, visita conocidos de ayer;
ella vendrá y le traerá su sonrisa;
como cada día
ella vendrá de trabajar
para romper su soledad.
(Agosto 1983)

WHEN THE SUN HIDES: Often you will see him, solitaire, walking by your street, slowly; as if there was nothing important that to do; discussing with itself, whereas in the sky it begins to grow dark. Someday, not yet it has not been raised and you already can see him, in front of an office, making tail to seal a paper that it does not give to eat; and the rest of the day will pass only wishing that it grows dark at last. Because when the sun hides she will come and bring her smile to him; like every day she will come from working in order to break its lonelyness. Often he locks in his room, turning around old books about accounting; he sends many letters, visits well-known of yesterday; and at the low moments he hums: "the night is almost fallen". Sometimes, in lost short whiles, it writes some verse or it makes a drawing, and it laughs on the inside, remembering the problems of Juan, who does not "understand" the women and "in bed he never goes farther than three". And when the sun hides she will come and she will bring her smile to him; like every day she will come from working in order to break its lonelyness.
